Warrington sits almost exactly between two employment venues — Manchester and Liverpool, each about sixteen miles away — and Warrington jobs pay more than either city’s residents earn.

Warrington median weekly pay against the statutory cap Two horizontal bars. The upper bar is median full-time gross weekly pay for jobs located in Warrington, £807.40. The lower bar is the same measure for Warrington residents, £782.10. A dashed line marks the statutory weekly cap of £751. Statutory redundancy pay is worked out on a week's pay capped at £751. That is why the statutory figure is a floor rather than a valuation, and why the gap is different in every city.

One caution. HMCTS publishes receipts for a region it calls North West, but it no longer publishes which hearing venue belongs to which administrative region — the GOV.UK guidance page that used to list them now redirects to the court finder, and the 2013 Regulations create no regional structure at all. So this is the region of the same geographical name, not a mapping we can show you a source for. Why we say so rather than rounding it off.

Between Manchester and Liverpool

Warrington has no employment tribunal venue of its own, and the HMCTS court finder puts it almost exactly between two: Manchester Employment Tribunal at Alexandra House, about sixteen miles away, and the Liverpool Civil and Family Court on Vernon Street, a fraction further. Mold Justice Centre, in Wales, is next at around twenty-seven.

The two are very different buildings. Manchester is a tribunal venue listed for employment and tax, with every hearing room on an upper floor; Liverpool is a combined civil and family court where employment is one of thirteen areas of law. Which one a Warrington claim is listed at will be on the notice of hearing. Manchester · Liverpool.

Either way the caseload behind it is reported by HMCTS for the North West region, the one of the same geographical name — a reasonable reading rather than a documented mapping.

The distance has one practical consequence worth acting on. Both venues list video facilities, and a short preliminary hearing attended remotely is a very different day from one that means travelling to either city. Ask the tribunal early whether a hearing can be attended by video, with your reason.

Pay above both neighbours' residents

The median full-time job located in Warrington pays £807 a week. That is more than the median full-time resident of Manchester (£716) or of Liverpool (£727) earns, and more than the North West median. Warrington’s own residents earn £782: less than the jobs in the town pay, so some of the better-paid Warrington jobs are held by people who commute in.

Against the statutory weekly cap of £751, a typical Warrington job is trimmed by about 7.0% before the redundancy formula starts. Treat the statutory figure as a floor; more of a typical loss has to be recovered through the negotiated part of a settlement. How to negotiate.

If you live in Warrington and commute to Manchester or Liverpool, the figure that describes your loss is the pay of the job you are leaving, wherever it is; a town median is context, not a measure of you. The calculator asks for your own pay for exactly that reason. Run your own figures.

The numbers on Warrington pay

For a 45-year-old with ten complete years, statutory redundancy on the Warrington job median is £9,012 on a capped week, against £9,689 for twelve weeks of actual pay. For unfair dismissal, fifty-two weeks’ pay is about £41,985, the practical ceiling on the compensatory award until 1 January 2027. How the limits work.

Since 1 October 2026, an unfair dismissal claim has six months from the effective date of termination where that date is on or after it. Settlement talks do not pause it; only Acas early conciliation does. How to count it.

If the redundancy involved choosing between colleagues, the pool and the scoring are worth checking before the figure. How selection should work.

None of this values a particular case; it is the frame an employer’s adviser will be working in.

Common questions about Warrington

Is there an employment tribunal in Warrington?

HMCTS lists none in the town. Its court finder returns Manchester Employment Tribunal, Alexandra House, 14-22 The Parsonage, Manchester M3 2JA, as the nearest, with the Liverpool Civil and Family Court almost as close.

Will my claim be heard in Manchester or Liverpool?

HMCTS does not publish which cases go to which venue. The notice of hearing names it.

Is Warrington pay above the statutory redundancy cap?

Yes, for the median full-time job located in Warrington and for the median resident (ONS Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings 2025).

Do I need a Warrington employment solicitor?

No. Any qualified lawyer insured for the advice and unconnected to your employer can sign off a settlement agreement — section 203(3A) and (3B) of the Employment Rights Act 1996.

How long do I have to claim?

Six months from the effective date of termination where that date is on or after 1 October 2026; three months where it was earlier. Acas early conciliation comes first.

Get your agreement checked

Six quick questions. Your details are the last step, never the first.

Step 1 of 6
Where are you up to?

A solicitor needs to know whether there is a document to read yet.

What do you want out of this?

There is no wrong answer. It decides whether a firm books you a sign-off slot or opens a negotiation, and those are different pieces of work.

When have you been asked to sign by?

The Acas Code of Practice recommends at least 10 days. If you have been given less, that is worth a solicitor knowing before anything else.

How long have you worked there?

Length of service decides your statutory notice, whether statutory redundancy pay applies, and whether ordinary unfair dismissal is available to you at all.

Is your employer paying towards the legal advice?

Employers usually contribute, because the agreement is not valid without independent advice. They are not obliged to. Knowing the figure up front stops you being put in front of a firm whose fee does not fit it.

Where should the firm reach you?

This is the only step that asks for personal details.
