Bradford has a tribunal hearing centre, but HMCTS lists it for immigration and social security, not employment — Bradford employment claims go to Leeds, while Newcastle’s employment tribunal lists the Bradford building as an address for its post.

Bradford median weekly pay against the statutory cap Two horizontal bars. The upper bar is median full-time gross weekly pay for jobs located in Bradford, £688.00. The lower bar is the same measure for Bradford residents, £670.70. A dashed line marks the statutory weekly cap of £751. Statutory redundancy pay is worked out on a week's pay capped at £751. That is why the statutory figure is a floor rather than a valuation, and why the gap is different in every city.

Against the cap: the cap sits £63.00 above the typical local week, so for most people here it does not reduce the calculation at all.

One caution. HMCTS publishes receipts for a region it calls North East, but it no longer publishes which hearing venue belongs to which administrative region — the GOV.UK guidance page that used to list them now redirects to the court finder, and the 2013 Regulations create no regional structure at all. So this is the region of the same geographical name, not a mapping we can show you a source for. Why we say so rather than rounding it off.

A tribunal building that does not hear employment

Bradford has a tribunal hearing centre, at Phoenix House on Rushton Avenue in Thornbury. HMCTS lists it for two areas of law, immigration and social security. Employment is not one of them.

Ask the HMCTS court finder for the nearest employment venue to central Bradford and it returns Leeds Employment Tribunal on Grace Street, about eight miles away, with Manchester and Sheffield next at around thirty. The Leeds listing — no public counter, telephone enquiries 9am to 5pm, a prayer and quiet room, hearing loop — is set out on the Leeds page.

There is a twist. The Bradford building that does not hear employment claims is listed by HMCTS as a correspondence address for the employment tribunal in Newcastle. If you are posting anything to a tribunal near a deadline, check which address it is meant to reach before it goes. The Newcastle page explains.

Bradford pay against Leeds pay

The median full-time job located in Bradford pays £688 a week. Leeds, eight miles away and the venue for Bradford claims, is £741. Both sit under the statutory weekly cap of £751, Leeds only just and Bradford by a wide margin, so for a typical worker in either city the statutory redundancy formula takes the whole week.

Bradford jobs also pay less than the Yorkshire and The Humber median, and Bradford residents earn a little less than the jobs in the city pay. If you live in Bradford and commute to Leeds, the Leeds job figure is the nearer description of your loss.

Low local pay has one advantage in a settlement: the flat £30,000 tax threshold covers about ten months of median Bradford pay, more than in most cities on this site. How the threshold works.

If you worked for a Bradford employer at a site elsewhere, it is the pay of the job you actually did that describes your loss; a city median is context, not a measure of you.

The numbers, and the new time limit

For a 45-year-old with ten complete years, statutory redundancy on the Bradford median is £8,256 — twelve full weeks, nothing removed by the cap. For unfair dismissal, fifty-two weeks’ pay on the same wage is about £35,776, the practical ceiling on the compensatory award for a typical local earner. How the two limits interact.

The time you have to bring a claim changed on 1 October 2026. Where your employment ended on or after that date, an unfair dismissal claim has six months rather than three, counted from the effective date of termination, and Acas early conciliation still has to be started first. Which limit applies to you.

Bradford pay sits well under the statutory weekly cap, so the redundancy formula uses a typical local week in full. What a tribunal could award · the time limit.

Common questions about Bradford

Is there an employment tribunal in Bradford?

Not for employment. HMCTS lists the Bradford Tribunal Hearing Centre for immigration and social security only. The nearest employment venue its court finder returns for central Bradford is Leeds Employment Tribunal, West Gate, 6 Grace Street, Leeds LS1 2RP.

Why does the Newcastle tribunal give a Bradford address?

HMCTS lists the Bradford Tribunal Hearing Centre, Phoenix House, Rushton Avenue, Thornbury, Bradford BD3 7BH, as a correspondence address for the Newcastle venue. It is administrative; check which address any document must reach before posting it.

How long do I have to claim unfair dismissal?

Six months from the effective date of termination where that date is on or after 1 October 2026, three months where it was earlier. Acas early conciliation comes first.

Do I need a Bradford employment solicitor?

No. The adviser must be qualified, insured for the advice and not acting for your employer — section 203(3A) and (3B) of the Employment Rights Act 1996 — and the sign-off is routinely done remotely.

Is Bradford pay above the statutory redundancy cap?

No. The median full-time job located in Bradford is well below it (ONS Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings 2025), so the statutory formula uses a typical local week in full.

Get your agreement checked

Six quick questions. Your details are the last step, never the first.

Step 1 of 6
Where are you up to?

A solicitor needs to know whether there is a document to read yet.

What do you want out of this?

There is no wrong answer. It decides whether a firm books you a sign-off slot or opens a negotiation, and those are different pieces of work.

When have you been asked to sign by?

The Acas Code of Practice recommends at least 10 days. If you have been given less, that is worth a solicitor knowing before anything else.

How long have you worked there?

Length of service decides your statutory notice, whether statutory redundancy pay applies, and whether ordinary unfair dismissal is available to you at all.

Is your employer paying towards the legal advice?

Employers usually contribute, because the agreement is not valid without independent advice. They are not obliged to. Knowing the figure up front stops you being put in front of a firm whose fee does not fit it.

Where should the firm reach you?

This is the only step that asks for personal details.
